AC Photonics Introduces New PM
and non-PM Switches
Responding
to market demand, AC Photonics has developed a series of specialty switches
to serve telecom, fiber sensing and the aerospace industries. For Polarizing-Maintaining
fiber segment, AC Photonics has developed two switches, PM 1x2 and PM
1x4 switches. For the emerging FTTX market, where cost is most important,
AC has developed dual 1x2 and dual 2x2 switches so that FTTX deployment
cost can be minimized. In addition, AC Photonics has introduced a low
cost 1x8 single mode fiber switch.
The two PM Switches have high extinction ratio of 20dB (typical), low
insertion loss and high channel isolation. Additionally, it is reliable
and has an estimated 10 million cycles reliability. These switches are
to be used in optical signal routing, network test systems and instrumentations.
As requested from the FTTX community, the newly developed dual 1x2 and
dual 2x2 switches are designed with the lowest cost and size in mind.
Instead of using two 1x2 or 2x2 switches, dual versions can save the
cost as well as space for FTTX applications. Standard dual switches
are multimode. However, single mode version is also available.
Lastly, AC Photonics also introduces conventional 1x8 SMF switch. With
AC’s experience in low cost off-shore manufacturing in producing
1x2 and 2x2 switches, the introduction of a 1x8 switch will allow higher
customer integration in their switch architecture.
